The Compton Cinema Organ at Summerlee Museum

The Compton at Summerlee has now been removed from the Museum and is now in storeage, pending a decision whether to restore it or not.

This organ was installed originally in the Mayfair Cinema, Liverpool as a three manual six rank instrument with melotone. It was opened in 1937 by Sydney Gustard. The cinema was finally demolished in 1985 having gone through the not uncommon conversion to bingo club. The organ was rebuilt and installed in the Summerlee Heritage Museum, opening in 1992 with Nigel Ogden. During the rebuild, a celeste was added to the string and a 16 foot extension to the trumpet.

Here is another picture with the illuminated surround switched on.
